Arguing

Question: How does one teach students to argue in a reasonable manner?

Answer—Quote: “…developing argumentation skills requires an understanding of the components of reasoned argument, including making a claim, providing evidence, asking for evidence from others, offering a counterclaim, inviting speculation, and reaching consensus (even if that means agreeing to disagree),” p. 28.

Comment: A good starting point for discussing with students how to argue in a reasoned manner. RayS.
